1. How is lip enhancement done?
A hyaluronic acid product such as Hylaform™, Cosmoplast™, or Captique™ is injected on the border of the lips. This creates a fuller, more enhanced lip which creates a radiant look.

2. Do I see the effect rightaway?
Yes. However, due to the swelling, the enhanced effect is at its best after 24 to 48 hours.

3. Does it hurt?
A topical or injectable anesthetic is used to minimize pain or discomfort. There is minimal discomfort once the anesthetic wears off. Apply ice packs or cold compress over the area. You may take Tylenol (not Aspirin) if needed.

4. When can I go back to my usual activities?
There is no downtime, therefore, you can go back to your normal activity.

5. What are the side effects?
There will be minor bruising and swelling after the procedure. This should disappear within 24 hours.

6. How long does it last?
Initially, the patient is injected with a short-acting dermal filler which may last for 4 weeks to 3 months. After having decided whether he/she prefers to have the long-acting effect, then the clinician uses the long-acting medication on the follow-up visit. This gives the patient enough time to decide if lip enhancement is maintained or not. The long acting medication lasts up to 12 months.

7. What should I avoid doing afterwards?
The patient is instructed to avoid puckering the lips during the first 48 hours.
